  1. Hi Mark,
Discovered your blog by accident (while researching an idea I am putting together for Abu Dhabi). It’s great! I love your approach!

I am a storyteller, writer, and verbal identity specialist (consult for Landor Associates, NY; Wolff Olins, NY; Salt Branding; Luquer; etc.) developing names (love doing pharma), brand stories, etc. My rich background in mythology, archetypes, symbol, and myth deeply inform my work. I would love to speak with you about opportunities with Novaris. I know the perils of drug naming, etc. but love this field!
    All good wishes,
    Margaret Wolfson

  2. Margaret, Thanks for the comments. I would be interested in your Abu Dhabi stories. Please feel free to use the site as a sounding board if we can help.

  3. Hi Mark,
A fellow storyteller! Great. Enjoyed discovering your blog.
he last couple of years I have been reading about all aspects of storytelling. How it influences the economy, the society, leadership, authenticity, social media and so on. Interesting stuff. But then it happened to me: peer-to-peer storytelling. I connected my story to that of peers. And my peers and their matching stories helped me to come to a simple set of rules for creating your own new trade.

The last 3 years I have been guiding a lot of international companies in using storytelling as a business tool. I have given a dozen workshops and lectures about this theme to blue chip companies. I have been working with all sort of businesses, with all sort of people, at all levels. They’re all convinced about the new trade. The new trade is the new business as usual!
To make it simple and concrete I summarized my view in one sentence:
It’s all about people connecting with other people by sharing their stories for everyone to repeat hoping to inspire the world and ultimately make it a better place.
I am writing a book about it:

    Like to hear your thoughts.

  7. Totally loved this blog. Great Inspiration.

The best part is how in simple words you have explained much of the consumer behavior and branding part which is influenced by storytelling.

  8. Hi Mark,

Amazing blog, loved most of the articles you have posted. I am a young branding graduate who has been convinced about storytelling as a process of brand recognition and eliciting favorable emotions affecting consumer behavior. I have previously worked on topics as diverse as photo-ethnography and sonic branding.

Currently i am working on social media and digital storytelling. In India, there is a lot to be done in this field and we are making a brave start here. I was looking for articles on storytelling on google, when i found your blog. I read almost all the articles and i love the consumer behavior, and the branding aspect which has been precisely understood and vocalized.

We are coming up with a blog (www.brandingtales.blogspot.com) concerning the storytelling aspect in the digital age. We are focusing on How with this two way conversation could take storytelling to the next level, where consumers not only see and gets influenced but also be a party and influence other consumers. I wish to have your voice on our blog.

  9. Thanks very much and i’m flattered you read it on and the other post. Social media and storytelling are ready made for each other and you will have great fun and success as you bring the two together. If my experience of working with India and Indian firms not only will you make a brave start but a brilliant one to. I will certainly stop by the blog and perhaps when I travel to India in Feb or March I will see some of your work.

  10. Mark,
I was turned onto your site by Gregg Morris, and I’m happier for it.
I too am a big believer in the power of story as applied to brands. Specifically, the advertising and marketing business is evolving. The need to establish authentic relationships is becoming a primary. Finding more buyers will always be important. But fans who relate to what a brand is all about are worth many buyers. There are innumerable lessons that stories provide for brand marketers on how to establish and maintain relationships. I look forward to learning from you and sharing information.
I am going to link your blog to mine. I think you’ll find that we are riding the same wave.
